What's the best time of day to shoot 360 photos?
Golden hours for 360 photography: early morning and late afternoon give the best light; why to avoid harsh midday sun and strong backlight.

What's the best time of day to shoot 360 photos?
A 360 camera sees every direction at once — meaning it also sees every lighting problem at once: blown-out windows one side, pitch-black corners the other. Picking the right shooting time solves half the lighting battle. Which hours work and why.
Golden hours: 7–9am and 4–6pm
The two best windows for 360 photos:
- Soft, warm light: angled sun gives spaces depth; photos have far more "soul" than flat midday white.
- Low contrast: no harsh blown windows, no black corners — a 360 camera handles this range easily.
- Outdoors at their best: gardens, pools, balconies look most stunning at these hours.
Tip: homestays/resorts — shoot balconies/views in the morning (clear light, less haze); cafés — late afternoon when lamps are on for a cozy mood.
Hours to avoid
10am–3pm: harsh midday sun. White light, hard shadows, extreme indoor-outdoor contrast. Typical results: windows blown completely white, ugly sun streaks across floors.
Strong backlight. If a space has big west-facing glass, avoid 3–5pm when sun blasts straight in — unless you deliberately want a sunset effect (and accept the rest going dark).
Handling each space type
Pure indoors (bedrooms, offices): timing matters less — turn on all indoor lights, close curtains if harsh sun enters. Any hour works with stable light.
Spaces opening outdoors (lobbies, garden restaurants): golden hours are mandatory. Indoor-outdoor contrast is enemy number one; only golden hours balance it.
Fully outdoors (resorts, farmstays): besides golden hours, a lightly overcast day is the second-best choice — clouds act as a giant diffuser, giving soft even light.
Practical scheduling
- List your angles, mark which depend on natural light.
- Shoot outdoor angles during golden hours first, indoor angles after.
- Always keep a backup day — rain ruins an outdoor session; don't force it.
